2021 Kids of Mud, Riding Club

Kids of Mud is the official youth cycling program for the Manitoba Cycling Association.

Children between the ages of 6 - 14 years are welcome to ride with Kids of Mud. Kids wishing to get involved must have a helmet, (must be ANSI/SNELL/CSPC approved) a mountain bike with hand brakes and gears, and be able to ride without training wheels.

Training with Kids of Mud includes safety, braking, gears, hills, racing (optional), riding over small and large obstacles, trail riding, and more.

This club rides RAIN OR SHINE, with the exception of thunder storms. With this in mind, please dress appropriately for the weather ie: Rain jacket, toque, full finger gloves, mosquito repellent.

Check List

Most of these can be purchased online before a ride. If you make the order before 3PM we can bring the products to the next ride for you. :)

What your kids need to bring:

Good to Have:

Your leader will have these items with them at all times but it's a good practice to always bring these things with you when you go out riding.

Your Cycling Helmet should be a cycling helmet (SNELL/CSPC/ANSI approved) is mandatory at all Kids of Mud events, for kids and adults. The helmet should sit squarely on your head, covering the upper half of the forehead, two fingers above the brow line. The fit should be snug, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable. Adjust the chin strap so that the straps form a symmetrical V ending under the earlobe on each side of the head. You should be able to fit only one or two fingers between the strap and the underside of the chin.

I am very interested in registering my son in your kids of mud program but would like a little more information. He just turned six but is a pretty confident rider. Currently, he is only riding a bmx style bike with coaster and rim brakes but I will be buying him a geared mtb bike for this season. Would you be able to tell me which days/nights you will be riding on and where we will be meeting to start the rides/skill development?

Thank you for your time,
